Microsoft Authenticator for new users

Microsoft Authenticator is a mobile app that helps you sign in to your Microsoft account securely. It provides an extra layer of protection by sending you a verification code or a notification when you sign in.

You will need to setup Microsoft Authenticator before you can use any of your Microsoft 365 applications. Please follow these steps:
 
On your computer:
  1. Open an InPrivate or InCognitio browser tab. 
  2. Sign in to Microsoft 365 at https://portal.office.com. 
  3. You’ll see a box titled ‘Action Required’ – Click Next.
  4. Keep clicking ‘Next’ on the subsequent windows until a QR code is displayed on the screen.
On your phone:
  1. Download and install the Microsoft Authenticator App from the app store.
  2. Open the Microsoft Authenticator App and click the “+” in the top right-hand corner to add a new account.
  3. Select “Work or School Account.”
  4. Choose “Scan QR code.”
  5. Scan the QR code displayed on your computer screen with your mobile phone.
  6. Click “Next” (on your computer) and enter the number displayed on the screen into the Microsoft Authenticator App to confirm functionality.
  7. Microsoft Authenticator App is now set up on your mobile phone.
